Frequently asked questions
The basics
What is Casa al Día?
A web app, in English, for foreigners who own a home in Mexico. It helps you employ household staff the right way (contract, IMSS, pay stubs, vacation and aguinaldo) and get the taxes on your vacation rental right (platform withholding, lodging tax and local registries).
Can I sign up now?
Not yet. We're launching in November 2026, and sign-ups open then. If you have a question in the meantime, write to hola@casa-al-dia.com.
Who runs Casa al Día?
Third Space Ventures LLC, a US company. See About.
Where does it work?
We're starting in Puerto Vallarta and Bahía de Banderas. The household staff rules and the platform withholding rules are federal, so they apply wherever your home is in Mexico. Lodging tax is set by each state: at launch we cover Jalisco and Nayarit, and we add other states as their rules are reviewed. Local registries vary by city, and we add them the same way.
Is Casa al Día a law firm or an accounting firm?
No. Casa al Día is software. Our amounts are estimates, and each one shows how we calculated it. Before we use each year's rules, a Mexican labor lawyer reviews the labor rules and a contador reviews the IMSS and tax rules. That doesn't make the app your lawyer or your accountant. For advice on your situation, talk to a labor lawyer or a contador.
Do you pay my worker, IMSS or SAT for me?
No. No money moves through Casa al Día. You pay your worker, IMSS, Infonavit and SAT directly, and mark each payment done in the app. We calculate the amounts, prepare the documents and remind you of the deadlines.
Do you need my SAT password or e.firma?
Never. We don't ask for SAT passwords, your CIEC or e.firma files, and nothing in Casa al Día needs them. If anyone asks for them in our name, don't hand them over, and tell us at hola@casa-al-dia.com.
Your household staff
What does my worker receive?
Their contract and every pay stub, in Mexican Spanish. Your worker never needs an account or an app of ours.
How do the documents reach my worker?
By WhatsApp, but only after you confirm in the app that your worker agreed to receive messages there. If they'd rather not use WhatsApp, they get the documents by email. They can stop WhatsApp messages by tapping No, gracias on our first message, or by telling you.
Is the contract in English?
The contract is in Mexican Spanish, with the English translation beside it so you know exactly what you're signing. The Spanish text is the one that counts legally.
Can you register my worker with IMSS for me?
Yes, with Done for you, a one-time US$79 service. You upload the documents and a signed authorization in the app, and our team registers your worker and posts the first payment slip. We start only once we have both. You can also register yourself: the app gives you a step-by-step checklist, with every answer ready to copy into IMSS's portal.
What's the Concierge add-on?
For US$29 a month, our team generates each official IMSS payment slip (línea de captura) and posts it in the app with its due date. IMSS's slips come only from its own portal, so people do this part, not software. You still pay IMSS yourself. Concierge starts once you've uploaded the same signed authorization as Done for you, if you haven't already.
What happens if I let a worker go?
Casa al Día estimates the final pay and any severance, and shows how it got there. Have a labor lawyer review it before you act on it.
Your vacation rental
Do you file my taxes?
No. You or your contador file with SAT. Casa al Día tracks your payouts, withholdings and direct bookings, and prepares a monthly packet (PDF and CSV) for your contador.
Which platforms do you support?
Any platform that withholds tax from your payouts, such as Airbnb or Vrbo, plus bookings you take directly. You upload each platform's monthly withholding receipt (the CFDI file), plus Airbnb's earnings report.
Your data
Where is my data stored?
In the United States. Casa al Día is operated by a US company, and the app and its data are hosted in the US. WhatsApp messages go through Meta, which may also process them in other countries. Our privacy policy lists every service we use and where each one processes data.
How do you protect my worker's identity numbers?
Your worker's CURP and NSS, and your own RFC if you add it, are encrypted before they're stored, shown masked in the app, and every time someone views one, it's logged.
Who is responsible for my worker's data?
You are, as the employer, and we process it on your behalf. Our privacy policy and the Spanish aviso de privacidad explain how, and how your worker can exercise their rights.
Pricing and billing
How much does it cost?
Staff is US$12 a month for one worker, plus US$5 a month for each extra worker, or US$120 a year for one worker. Rentals is US$19 a month per property. Home, with one worker and one property, is US$25 a month. Concierge is a US$29-a-month add-on to monthly plans, and Done for you is US$79, once. I'm a property manager. Can I use it for my owners?
